Star Wars Balancing Relationships and the Rebellion: A Female Perspective is a parody podcast of six female Star Wars characters that span across the nine canon films. Some characters have alternate life outcomes so they can coexist with others. The characters discuss relationship issues and coping skills with each other. The goal of the podcast is to discuss women’s issues in an enlightening and humorous way.

In my personal life sometime benign words or actions remind me of unpleasant past experiences. When this occurs, it can affect my present. Trying to express this concept was my idea for this sound design. My husband and I recently moved and had an argument about the closet.

For the first soundscape I created, I decided to choose an idiom to illustrate. An idiom would provide a way to design an idea and create something clever for the listener to hear literally and conceptually. I chose the idiom I did because the soundscape could be playful, curious, and secretive. I wanted the listener to not know exactly what the soundscape was about, have the clues to figure it out, and then to experience an “ah-ha” moment.

This abstract film is of paint and originally, I thought I would interpret it as creative thought. As I started to apply sound and desired to get a range of sounds, the film began to feel a bit darker, so I decided to go more for a stream of consciousness. The goal was to create an element that is more unique than a pure representation of what is there.
